Two of the Apostles, the brothers John and James, asked Jesus to give them positions of authority when he came into his kingdom, but Jesus said there would be no such nobility among his followers.

Rather, in his kingdom, our church leaders would need to be the servants of the rest.

However, after the year 500 A.D our church leaders took on titles of majesty, demanding that they be addressed as "lords."

We might be better off if we led simpler lives.
