In 920 B.C. the Holy Land split into two distinct nations, with judah to the south, and Israel to the north under Jeroboam.

In the last days of Solomon, Jeroboam was the superintendent of the workmen of the tribe of Ephraim,  then when ten tribes broke away from the rule of Solomon's son Rehoboam, Jeroboam became the king of the broke-away ten tribes that established their selves as th northern kingdom of Israel.

Israel was to last as a separate nation, apart from Judah, from 922 to 722 B.C., when its was carried off by the Assyrians.
