We read, "Rising very early before dawn. he left
and went off to a deserted place where he prayed."
That gives rise to at least
two questions. First, as God himself what did he have to pray about?
Secondly if he was leaving us
a lesson, what should we be praying about?
I can think of two answers to
that first question. Jesus had to pray out of a longing to be with his Father. Secondly, he was just as
human as we are. Maybe more.
The second question: What
should we be praying about? There are many possible answers to that. What pops
into my head are Paul's words in Romans 14: 7-8.
None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for
oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we dies, we die for the
Lord. So, whether we lie of die, we are the Lord's.
