When Jesus tells[ us to take his yoke upon us to learn from him, he is
comparing himself to an old ox who is able
to work through the longest days without wearying.
Oxen are such wonderful
animals, wonderfully strong, yet wonderfully patient.
For the most part a farmer
will have a single ox pulling his plow; but for busting through hard clay, he
will at times yoke two oxen under a double curved wooden yoke.
