The readings might turn you
to spending your own private Christmas with Jesus. Your prayerful imaginings could
bring that about in two ways.
One way for you to have your
own private Christmas with the newborn child would be for you to take him from
his mother. Then as you let your gaze fall
down on him, he opens his eyes to gaze up at you.
Another way for you to have your
private Christmas with him, is for you to share the wonder St. Paul expressed it
in his Letter to the Philippians, saying:
"You did not consider your
equality with God something to be clung to. Rather, you emptied yourself, and being
found human in appearance, you humbled yourself, becoming obedient to death,
even to death on the cross."
