St. Andrew was crucified on an X shaped cross.

Thursday  11/30/17

Today we honor the apostle Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, the son of Jona..
Together with their eighbor Zebedee and hs sons James and John they worked long seining nets off the north shore of the Sea of Galile.

Andrew, and his neighbor John gained permission from their fathers to go eighty miles south to where John the Baptist was baptizing people in the Jordan, There,  the  boys took to helping the Baptist by guiding old folks out into  the Jordan to be baptized.

They were doing that, when Jesus passed by; and John the Baptist, recognizing him, called out, "There is the Lamb of God."

At that John and Andrew left what they had been doing, and like bashful  country boys, they followed Jesus, keping their distance behind him. When Jesus  turned, and asked them what they were looking for, Andrew asked, "Where are you staying?"

That seemed to be a straight forward question, but the matter of Jesus staying with anyone appears over and over in John's Gospel where Jesus does not come and go as needed. No, he stays within us, giving us life.
