Most of us, in listening to the Gospel, wish that Jesus had given Martha more credit. After all, he landed in on her with his apostles to be fed. She must have been a real stalwart woman.
Of course, we must agree with Jesus in his saying that Mary had chosen the better part. He was telling us that there is nothing we can do that would be better than giving him our full attention.
But it is a hard thing for us to do. After all, we don't have Jesus physically present to us the way Mary had him. The best we can do is to clear our minds of all other thoughts, while we concentrate on his presence to us, hoping he will break the silence.
