St. Vincent was not of noble stock, he had to crawl his way up from dirty poverty/

Wednesday, 9/27/17

Yesterday I made the mistake of taking it for the Feast day of St. Vincent de Paul, while it is actually today.

In addition to what I wrote about Vincent yesterday, I'd like to point out that he was one of seven children of poor dirt famers. The Church often falls into snobbery by remarking that one or another of her saints. whiling poor, was also of noble lineage. Well, there wa nothing of that with Vincent. He had to crawl his way up from very common roots.

Yesterday I noted that Vincent founded the Vincentian Fathers. Today I should add that together with Louise de Marilac he was responsible for founding the Daugthers of Charity.
