The Second Reading is from
Paul's "Letter to the Philippians." When I first came across it many years
ago, I tried memorizing it, and I suggest you might do the same. The way I
learned it, it went something like this.
"Let this mind be in
you, that was also in Jesus Christ, who although he was in the form of God. did
not consider equality with God something to be clung to.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking on the form of a slave, coming in human likeness, and found human in appearance;
he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even to death on a cross.
For this reason, God greatly
exalted him, and bestowed on him the name that is above every other name; that
at the name of Jesus, every knee should bend of those in heaven and on earth, and below the earth; and every tongue
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the
glory of God the Father."
