The people settled in the Chosen Land abandoned Yahweh,
turning to the worship of Baal and Ashtaroth.
Baal was seen to be the god of rainfall, and Israelites desperate
for rain, would give in to practicing rituals to please Baal.
Astharoth was seen as the goddess of fertility,. She had her
own troop of prostitutes, and people of
the land felt their crops could not germinate if they did not pay for the
services of Ashtaroth's troop.

Hi Father, Isn't that sad, It must have broken God's heart to see His chosen people turn from Him like that; but are we any better?
