For today’s Gospel, Matthew
wrote, “No one knows the Father except
the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
We Christians are not the
only ones who know tht there is one God ruling the universe. The ancient Greeks
believed that there had to be a single creator of all things. They called him “The
unmoved Mover.”
When our astronauts flew
around the moon The Hebrews, the followers of Islam, and we Christians were the
only humans who believed that the same scientific rules held force throughout the
universe on the other side of the moon. .
But neither the Jews nor the
Muslims, could measure up to Jesus in revealing the Father to us. Jesus
astounded his Jewish disciples when he ran forward to congratulate the widow
who gave God the only pennies she had to live on. Only Jesus knew the Father
well enough to give us the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
