Instead of just avoiding sin, we should be persuing holiness

The readings explain themselves, let me say something about what I have been writing about. I have written about 500 pages on a History of Christianity that I call “My Take on Christianity.”

In its final chapter I speak about the Moral Theology classes we took five days a week for four years. They had us making detailed studies about how we sin by violating all the small print in s the Ten Commandments and the Commandments of the Church. I write about how Vatican II recommended a new Moral Theology in which we strive for holiness, instead of just trying to avoid sin.

My efforts in that direction have me making short meditations each morning on the Beatitudes and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. I haven’t gotten any holier, but I haven’t gotten any worse.
