Readings appealing to Jews, but not to Christians

Monday, January 30, 2017.

The first reading gives us the conclusion of Chapter 11 of The Letter to the Hebrews. Throughout this long chapter, we have been treated to short bio's of Jewish leaders who endured much by faith.

From tomorrow on, readings from Chapter 12 of the Letter to the Hebrews, we are given the example of what was accomplished by Christ and Christian leaders.

The gospel might appeal to Jewish people who considered pigs to be unclean creatures. Our sympathies go out, however, to the owners of the pigs who had to witness their death.

If this entry seems slim on inspiration, tomorrow's reading will be great, "We (Christians) having before us such a cloud of witnesses, let us run with patience to the fight set before us."
