We should thank God for the great white clouds that glide over
a Dresden-China-blue sky. We should thank God for the efficiency of his sunlight,
as it lifts vapor from the ocean, attaching it to air particles that come together
massively. We should thank God for the breezes that cost-free transport water
supplies over the earth to where they are needed.
We should thank God for the way he described the process to
us in Chapter Fifty-five of Isaiah:
For just as from the heavens, the rain and snow come
down, and do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile
and fruitful; giving seed to him who sows and bread to him who eats,
So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth. It
shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which
I sent it.

A rainbow arched over the eastern sky at six o'clock yesterday evening. Thank you God. Wordsworth used a rainbow as his inspiration for a poem on our need to hang on to our youthful ideals. May I?
My heart leaps up when I behold a rainbow in the sky.
So was it when my life began, so is it now - I am a man;
So let it be when I grow old, or let me die.
The child is father of the man,
and I could wish my days to be
linked each to each in mutual piety.
