It is common enough
for people to feel that Jesus, being one of us, exceeds the Father in feeling
kindly toward us.
However, today’s
reading tells us that the Father loves us more than Jesus does.
Jesus said, “Everything the Father gives me will come to
me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from
heaven not to do my will but the will of the one who sent me.”
Jesus was saying
there that if he had his “druthers” he would reject some of us as unfit; but he
has to take us on, because the Father won’t let him drop us.
My Dad wasn’t always
hugging us kids. He wasn’t always telling us he loved us the way people in
movies do.
But from the
occasional times that he had his arms around me, I remember the great feeling
of it; and I grew up happy with the world because my Dad made me secure in it.
Our heavenly Father
makes us even more secure.

Hi Father, I was in bed saying my prayers and I had a thought about your Homily. Jesus loved us so much that he died on the cross for us, John 15:13 says, "Greater love hath no man than this, than he who lays his life down for his friends.
